Junior Accountant

Junior Accountant position in Los Angeles headquarters that reports to the Assistant Controller.


Representative Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconciles account balances and bank statements
  • Assists in preparing monthly journal entries, including supporting documentation
  • Assists in preparing monthly reconciliations
  • Analyzes financial information and summarizes findings
  • Supports month-end and year-end close processes
  • Spots errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting system and procedures
  • Develops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Provides input into department’s goal setting process
  • Assists with tax and financial audits
  • Assists internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Ensures compliance with GAAP principles
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Assists with documentation of accounting procedures
  • Assists accounting staff as needed
  • Assists with ad-hoc reports and special projects as required
  • Accounts receivables processing including recording cash/checks and reconciling account discrepancies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • 2-3 years experience, with thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP; awareness of business trends; familiarity with financial accounting statements;
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes; accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills;
  • MS Excel proficient

Working Conditions:

This position is typical to an office environment and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Sitting for long periods of time and extensive computer use are common.
